On Monday evening 12th June we held our inaugural gathering, an ‘Open Evening’, enjoying wine and cheese, a talk and some guided tours. Forty three supporters came.
Sara Day, who is the Granta Church Recorder for The Arts Society – formerly NADFAS – gave us a fascinating talk and was able to walk around later, answering specific questions.
The assembled company were then guided around the Exterior and Interior features. Outside, the North Aisle roof, newly leaded for the second time, some historical poor or inappropriate repairs and several cracked stone window frames. Inside, we were able to study the damage from ingress of water as well as a closer inspection of our Medieval woodwork. We then moved on to the Displays. One featured a large Illustration of the Works which need to be done, as identified in the 2014 Quinquennial (5 yearly) Inspection, with estimated costs.
This illustration forms one side of our folded prospectus.
